Born in the family of Uttarakhand, in the foothills of mighty Himalayas in India, her voice has a golden hue to it and so was christened aptly as Swarnima, which literally means - the one with a 'golden aura'. An artist who has both talent and imagination, that is Swarnima Gusain who offers a bewitching bouquet of variegated styles of Hindustani Classical Music.

Swarnima embarked on the journey of classical music at the tender age of nine initiated by Pandit Vasudev Deshpandey and further groomed by Smt. Shubha Mudgal, Pt Batuknath Diwanji and Sarangi Samrat Ustad Sabri Khan.

The most significant turning point came in Swarnima's musical journey when Gaan Saraswati Smt Kishori Amonkar took Swarnima under her wings. Impressed by Swarnima's dedication and determination, the legendary vocalist Padma Vibhushan Smt Kishori Amonkar is now blessing Swarnima with her divine music and the finer nuances of Jaipur Atrauli Gharana.

With this divine training, Swarnima has achieved an authenticity in many aspects of the Jaipur-Atrauli style - a full throated akaar, dazzling taans, a sophisticated use of techniques such as meend and gamak, and a clever grasp of the intricacies of layakari. In addition to the mastery of presentation of classical raagas, Swarnima's command of semi-classical genres (thumri, chaiti, dadra, kajri, ghazal, bhajan, abhang, etc.) accounts for her versatility among Hindustani Classical vocalists.

The bountiful benefits of fruitful traditional grooming are beautifully reflected in Swarnima's singing. Her voice is her fortune. She can pace up and down three octaves with consummate ease.

Academically too, Swarnima holds a Master's and M. Phil degree in Classical vocal music from Delhi University, having been a gold medallist throughout her academic career. A recipient of National Scholarship, Swarnima has bagged several Awards, which include the Talent Hunt Award and the Maharishi Award conducted by the All India Maharishi Gandharva Ved Vishwa Vidyapeeth.

A graded broadcaster for classical music, Swarnima is a regular performing artiste at All India Radio and other media channels in India.
